Travel to/from Montana

2014 West class at Mikoshika State Park

The class meets in South Bend. We leave early on Saturday and head to UNDERC-East, where we spend two nights. We leave for Montana early on Monday morning, stopping at several historic sites, state parks and national parks along the way. These include Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Mikoshika State Park, Pompy's Pillar, and Fort Mandan

The class camps along the way. UNDERC-West provides tents, but students should bring their own sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and pillow. We stop at restaurants for lunch and dinner each day.

The last five days of class are spent traveling back to the University of Notre Dame campus. We leave early Monday morning and head to Yellowstone National Park. We camp there for two nights, and spend Tuesday exploring the park. On Wednesday night we usually stay in the Black Hills or near the Badlands, South Dakota. We arrive in South Bend Friday late afternoon.
